The problem - heritage window repairs needed
The prime windows are fitted with a bottom hung vent above the side hung sash, the top vents are opened by a remote cast brass operating system and new oak secondary is to be fitted to match the sight line of the prime window. The new timber secondary window and the original prime window are required to open simultaneously to achieve an air flow equal to the prime window.
The solution - heritage timber windows repaired
|
The remote cast brass operating system was removed from the prime window, the winding gear was examined and faulty components restored or replaced, then carefully stored with each component identified and logged.
The new secondary windows were fitted. |
New castings were designed to allow the winding gear to be face fitted to the new timber secondary with a link system coupling the prime window bottom hung vent to the secondary bottom hung vent. Both sets of top vents were now operable via the remote cast system.
